Error 1714 when loading Adobe reader

This was one of my jobs that I had, if you read the post under current jobs.
It was Gary from Islandia. What he did was he deleted the adobe folders from the C: without properly deleting it from add/remove programs.
He went to download a new version of reader -8.0- than install it but it wouldn't let him. it was coming up error 1714.
Adobe still thought the program was in windows still because of the registry entries so it was looking for the adobe folder which could not be found.
I went in and deleted the registry entries and it worked --- little secret-- Microsoft makes a program the can edit very easily for you called windows installer cleanup.
Look for it.. it was a help.
